The Redwood City Group invites you to share your experience, strength and hope at this closed Step Review Meeting of Gamblers Anonymous, whose purpose is to offer new hope and the opportunity for a happier, more productive life.

The Recovery Program is the heart of the Gamblers Anonymous Fellowship. It offers a new way of life that helps the recovering compulsive gambler discover reduced difficulties, peace of mind, serenity and fulfillment, which too often seem to be missing from so many lives. It enables the recovering compulsive gambler to live without the need or obsession to gamble. The principles of the Twelve Steps reflect the practical experience and application of spiritual insights validated by members throughout the Program who continue to recover by stopping gambling and attaining a new way of life. The greatest significance of the Twelve Steps lies in the fact that they work!

The Redwood City Group provides a forum through which the Twelve Steps are reviewed and offered as topics for members to explore and share their personal feelings. The meeting format is designed to have an entire month dedicated to the review of one Step before proceeding to the next Step. During the meeting, the Group utilizes reading Program text, "A New Beginning", in which the Twelve Steps are more defined. In addition to reading the "Day at a Time" reflection book, the Step readings and open sharing reinforce the importance of changing one's thinking and attitude and recognizing the value of self-awareness and self-examination.

Finally, the Redwood City Group advocates the need for members to do the footwork and take certain undertakings on their own if they are to live more productive lives. By developing the quality of willingness -- through studying Program literature between meetings; committing to writings and utilizing the Sponsorship Program to work the Steps; and practicing the principles of the Twelve Steps in one's daily life -- one can increase a deeper commitment and understanding of the Gamblers Anonymous Recovery Program.
