The Cordilleras Center
The Cordilleras Center is located in a beautiful canyon in Redwood City off Highway 280. The building is three stories high and was built in 1950 as a Tuberculosis Hospital but never used for that purpose. The grounds are surrounded by open space with a fire station adjacent to the property.
The building and grounds are owned and maintained by the County of San Mateo. The building overall is in good shape, and it's like stepping back into the 50's with vintage tile floors, wood molding and brick-walled rooms, such as in the Tuesday Step meeting's conference room.
Cordilleras is a 68-bed mental health and rehabilitation facility for mentally-ill adults and adolescents managed by Telecare Corporation. The entire center is generally calm and quiet, to be sure, helpful to those suffering from a severe mental illness. The Cordilleras statement of purpose is: "We exist to help people with mental impairments realize their full potential."
The locale and setting is well-suited for 12 Step Recovery. We at Redwood City Step Review group are extremely grateful to have a meeting room available for our use at Cordilleras Center!
